Looking east across De Beauvoir Rd. The round cycle sign should be moved to above the existing cycle sign on the lighting column. Then, replace the remaining pole with a matching bollard. There is a redundant grey pole and a superfluous bollard on the pavement.

Southern side at cnr of De Beauvoir Rd. More intelligent placement of the parking bay would make the parking pole redundant. Move the bay and sign to encompass column No. 5. Less clutter!

Southern side of the Terrace. How can the council say it is protecting its Conservation areas when they deliberately place signs so insensitively. It should at least be placed on the property boundary, between properties (assuming no obstructing services). This is also a good example of the new 2m pole policy. The council should stand by its previous commitment to use 1m poles in Conservation areas.

Looking west along Northchurch Terrace into Northchurch Rd at Cnr of Lawford/Culford. The good use of existing street furniture here is to be applauded and taken as an example for the entire area. In fact, a pole that was placed centrally in the road was removed, and signs relocated onto the pole at the right. Great! Its clear how much better the long view looks without the visual clutter. However...
- The single bollard shown, has been left painted grey while all other bollards on all four roads are black. Why wasn't this done properly at the time?
- What this picture doesn't show is the waste of time and money when all the bollards were replaced with the 'wrong' type of non-heritage bollards. Then within a few weeks they were all ripped up to be replaced by the 'correct' bollards.
- Then after 12 months of planning (after the parking consultation) the parking lines were re-painted. But not for long! Because then we had the street re-surfaced only to have all the lines repainted for the second time.
- To top it all off, Thames Water were laying mains at exactly the same time as the resurfacing was being done. We all feared the new road surface would be dug up for the new water main. A Thames Water worker said that their work in the road was completed in a real hurry as an 'emergency' job to avoid it being dug up. This was due to the re-surfacing not being co-ordinated with the water mains work.
Don't council Departments talk to each other!!!
